1. I think the story is about an important event in history. I see a picture of president Kennedy so something has to be about him.2. Elena and Eugene live in the same neighborhood. They go to the same school and both are smart and like to read. Elena lives in El building and is Puerto Rican and Eugene is white.
3. Elena's mother can tell that Elena is blinded by love and is worried about President Kennedy's death but to visit Eugene's house. Elena felt sad but couldn't help her feelings.
4. All her mom and dad used to talk about was going back to Puerto Rico. They were unhappy in Paterson and wanted to move to the suburbs. She only been to Puerto Rico once and loved to learn Spanish and listen to fairy tales. She always wanted better than her parents.
5. That the strictest person has feelings too. He showed different emotions and was upset that the students didn't really care or showed that they cared about the death of a beloved president.
6.It was ironic because the death of J.F.K was a big part of American History. Also because they talked about multiple times how Elena and her culture.
7. The author feels strongly against prejudice and discrimination. She believes we all are equal and that is what most of her writings is about. She wanted everyone to be treated equal so she tries to express in her writings.
