1. he thinks that people will laugh at him because all both of his legs are missing.

2. because it catches the readers attention and it makes the story seem suspenceful and it makes it seem like people are in danger.

3. the reason why the pilot is afraid of  landing in the water is because he happened to go to sleep during white periods. he was going to fall asleep while in he clouds.

4. i think he probably landed in a place where he got badly injured like he landed on the highway and thats why he ended up in the hospital.

5. because it gives the readers a better understanding of the story
